God is in Control

We all have times when we wake up in the morning and feel the blahs and blues; we don't feel very excited for the new day in our life but see discouragement.
But just because we feel those emotions doesn't mean we have to stay there and give in to them; we can shake it off and move forward in faith relying on God's strength.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is talk to ourselves and speak scripture over our lives.

I love the way how King David talked to himself. He said in Psalm 42:11,
"Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God."
We very well know that being in a sour mood because of our problems doesn't make it better, instead makes it worse!! It puts more pressure!! It makes us more miserable!
Oh yeah! we can rule over your emotions and choose to be in a good mood in spite of how we feel.
The Choice is ours!! To be happy or sad! To enjoy life or brood over it!
I've chosen this approach...to say...
1. God, I'm turning this situation over to You. I'm not going to let it steal my joy. I know You're in control.
"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:13
2. And at the right time, I believe You'll not only turn it around, but You'll bring me out better off than I was before.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
"Galatians 6:9
3. I Do not want to live by how I feel. But start living by what you know. I know you are there in my future already!
"Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. "Matthew 6:8
4. I know that You've got a great plan for my life.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

5. I know your power is greater than any other power.
"being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. "Colossians 1:11-12
6. I do not want to give into my emotions.
"For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." Psalm 30:5
7. I choose to live each day in your peace by committing everything to you.
"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. "Proverbs 16:3
8. I am going to have a great day.
"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

All we need to know is God is in Control no matter what!!
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Thank You Lord!

What's your name?

Count your blessings; name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!

Count your blessings; name them one by one,

Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Wanted to blog about the first Blessing of God on me , here I do it...Finally!!!
When I was born, God blessed me by saving me, my mom always recollects that day and says that I am a Blessing. The umbilical chord connected to me was not properly tied after I was born, and since I was covered warmly and was not noticed by any one. I was crying and everyone were thinking it was just a baby cry after birth..
But only after a while when my athama(my dad’s sister) took me in her hands, she felt something wet and when checked found blood all over, then the chord was retied properly. That’s when God started bestowing his blessings on me, by giving me this life to live.

Thank You Lord for your blessing, LIFE !

My parents named me Dorcas, It means A Gazelle (A Gentle deer). We all have a name, and we all love our own names, it means something really special for each one of us. My name was chosen from the Bible, from the book of Acts, chapter 9, verse 36, “In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas), who was always doing good and helping the poor.”

* Both Tabitha (Aramaic) and Dorcas (Greek) mean gazelle.

Story of Dorcas in Bible: Acts 9:36-43
36In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas), who was always doing good and helping the poor. 37About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. 38Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, "Please come at once!" 39Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them. 40Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. 41He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called the believers and the widows and presented her to them alive. 42This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord. 43Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon.

Question ringing in my mind today is, Do I actually live up to my name? Do You?

Need or Want?

I was evaluating my need...rather a want?? !!
Reminding me of the verse,
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. Psalms 23:1
and also,
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
We all do face wants and needs.....
The endless cycle of materialism has confused the word "need" with the word "want".
All we need to do is to identify the kind of need or want we have.It is the needs that the Lord promises to take care of, whereas most of us keep chasing perceived needs(wants) that are often shaped by emotions and vanity, mainly due to selfishness in leading us to believe God will give everything we want and not seeing that needs are not wants.
This is a good learning for me because I tend to over-rationalize things....is it my need? or just a want? Will it happen? Do I really need it or badly want it? What if i don't get it?

God's answer to Our Prayer's are always,
1. "YES"
2. "YES BUT NOW NOW" (a few real needs require God's children to wait for a bit more.)
3. "I HAVE A BETTER PLAN FOR YOU"(do we realize that a good number of unanswered needs are not real needs at all, but just wants!)

In Christ Alone

We all know songs which we've learnt when we were kids and enjoy singing those songs
...there some songs which are catchy and
...there are some songs which we feel as if it was written for us...
..there are songs, which we easily associate ourselves with and enjoy every word of the song and cannot stop praising the Lord our God.
This is one such song which is very close to my heart, whenever I hear this, it just makes me SMILE and feel comforted for the HOPE we have and I love to hear this song day in and day out...

In Christ alone my hope is found,

He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

God will make a way

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:6

An inspiring song for me to trust, keep on trusting....keeping on...

God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength
For each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way

By a roadway in the wilderness
He'll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and earth will fade
But His Word will still remain
He will do something new today

@ The Baptist Day

This little story that may sound corny but to those who know, it will find an accepting audience:
“At the University of Chicago Divinity School each year they have what is called “Baptist Day”. It is a day when all the Baptists in the area are invited to the school because they want the dollars to keep coming in.

On this day each one is to bring a lunch to be eaten outdoors in a grassy picnic area. Every “Baptist Day” the school would invite one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education center.
One year they invited Dr. Paul Tillich. He spoke for two and one-half hours proving that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book. He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection the religious tradition of the church was groundless, emotional mumbo-jumbo, because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who, in fact, never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions.
After about 30 seconds, an old, dark skinned preacher with a head of short-cropped, woolly white hair stood up in the back of the auditorium “Docta Tillich, I got one question,” he said as all eyes turned toward him. He reached into his sack lunch and pulled out an apple and began eating it.

“Docta Tillich … CRUNCH, MUNCH

My question is a simple question, CRUNCH, MUNCH…
Now, I ain’t never rea
d them books you read…CRUNCH, MUNCH…
and I can’t recite t
he Scriptures in the original Greek CRUNCH, MUNCH …
I don’t know nothin’ about Niebuhr and Heidegger…. CRUNCH, MUNCH…

He finished the apple.
All I wanna know is: This apple I just ate–was it bitter or sweet?”

Dr. Tillich paused for a moment and answered in exemplary scholarly fashion: “I cannot possibly answer that question, for I haven’t tasted your apple.”
The white-haired preacher dropped the core of his apple into his crumpled paper bag, looked up at Dr. Tillich and said calmly, “Neither have you tasted my Jesus.”
The 1,000 plus in attendance could not contain themselves. The auditorium erupted with applause and cheers. Dr. Tillich thanked his audience and promptly left the platform.”

Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

A Time for Everything

One of My Fav Chapters-Ecclesiastes 3
A Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

9 What does the worker gain from his toil?

10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. 13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

15 Whatever is has already been,
and what will be has been before;
and God will call the past to account.

16 And I saw something else under the sun:
In the place of judgment—wickedness was there,
in the place of justice—wickedness was there.

17 I thought in my heart,
"God will bring to judgment
both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
a time for every deed."

18 I also thought, "As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. 21 Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?"

22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his lot. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

God's Perfect timing

Habakkuk 2:3 For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.

God gives us hopes and dreams for certain things to happen in our lives, but He doesn't always allow us to see the exact timing of His plan.
Although frustrating, not knowing the exact timing is often what keeps us saying...
When God When?
How long?
Yes...there are times when we might give up if we knew how long it was going to take, but can learn to live in hope.. when we accept God's timing, we can enjoy our lives while God is working on our problems. Knowing that God has promised good, just need to entrust our self to Him, to experience total peace and happiness....
Reminds me of Exodus 13:17,18 which tells us that God led the Israelites the longer, harder way on their journey to the Promised Land because He knew they were not yet ready to go in. There had to be time for their training, and they had to go through some very trying situations. They wasted a lot of time wondering about God's timing, but God never failed to take care of them and show them what He wanted them to do.
The same is true in our lives.
God's training/testing period simply requires us to do what He tells us to do when He tells us to do it......and I'm learning to accept God's timing.....
Thank You Lord !!
Reminds me of this song, which gives strength and hope,
IN HIS TIME, IN HIS TIME
HE MAKES ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME
LORD, PLEASE SHOW ME EVERYDAY
AS YOU'RE TEACHING ME YOUR WAY
AND I'LL DO JUST WHAT YOU SAY
IN YOUR TIME.

IN YOUR TIME, IN YOUR TIME
YOU MAKE ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN YOUR TIME
LORD, MY LIFE TO YOU I BRING
MAY EACH SONG I HAVE TO SING
BE TO YOU A LOVELY THING
IN YOUR TIME

BE TO YOU A LOVELY THING
IN YOUR TIME.

Just one thing?

Luke 10:41-42
"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
One thing is needed.....Really?
One thing?
LORD, is it so?

I want . . . I want . . . I want . . . I want to be at peace without any stream of thoughts causing me to worry.....
But I need one thing—To Seek for this one thing—To remain in Your presence. To sit down at Your feet. To delight in Your splendor.
All Glory be to the Lord! This is the one thing.

I need . . . I need . . . I need . . . to give You all the glory.
I believe and trust to see your work in my Life...and I expectantly wait to see even more. I fasten all my hopes on You.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14

I wait for You, LORD. With courage and strength.
Amen.
